Princess Sophia Tuesday, February 28, 2006

I don't think we've written about our new dog yet. Her name is Sophie, and she's a maltese. She weighs about 6 lbs and is a very nice indoor lap dog (or toy dog). She a little over a year old. In fact, Santa brought her to Julia for Christmas 2004, and then she was passed on to us from the Staleys.

She loves soft blankets, and sitting on people's laps. Every time Emily eats, Sophie waits under her high chair for spills. Emily gets a kick out of this so she now throws food at her. We had to pick spaghetti O's out of sophies fluffy white hair the other day. She had orange streaks. Sophie now keeps her distance from the high chair a little, ever since Emily started throwing her bottle at her.

Where are the West Indies? Sunday, February 26, 2006

Well, it's official. A couple weeks ago the announcement about the mission call was in the Church News, but then a letter with the location arrived on Friday via FedEx in Provo.

Reid Sr. and Diane were in Chicago with Joelle, so they had the other kids on conference call. The were surprised to find out they will be going to the West Indies!!

The West Indies Mission contains the islands south of the Virgin Islands, starting around St. Martin/St. Maarten and goes down to Trinidad and Tobago, the mission also includes three countries in South America, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. English is the predominant language in the mission with about 80-90 missionaries called on English speaking missions serving in St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Vincent, Grenada, Barbados, Trinidad and Guyana. French is the second largest with around 15-20 serving in St. Martin, Guadeloupe, Martinique and French Guiana. Dutch is the third with approximately 10 missionaries in Suriname. There are occasionally Spanish speaking elders on St. Martin/St. Maarten.

Dallin is on a Junior Jazz basketball team, and has a game every saturday. Today he made his first basket. The coach told him beforehand that he would give dallin a dollar if he scored, and he did it!
