Joelle & Jack are back in town, so we were planning on trying our luck at another photo of the 5 new grandbabies for the West Indies mission home wall. Joelle found us some formal baby attire, and after lunch and some shopping, we started to gather back at my place for the picture. It had been raining all day, which is very rare at 7000 ft in January, and by 3pm or so it had turned to snow and Jenny's miniminivan couldn't make it up our street. She turned back to park at the entrance to our neighborhood and then catch a ride with someone else, but in the process she got stuck in the parking lot. We couldn't push her out, so we made a trip back to the house to get Cooper and a rope to tow her out, and she was going to hit the road because it was snowing pretty hard and starting to get dark. We were going to cancel the photo so Jenny could make it home safely. We towed her out without a problem, but then her car battery was dead! So we made yet another trip to the house to get jumper cables, and thought we might as well take a quick picture or 2 after all. The snow had let up, and the babies were relatively well behaved, and we were able to get Jenny & Jamie on the road before dark.

Bye Jack! Thanks for visiting.. All your little cousins are jealous of your fancy Ed Hardy apparel. (ok, you're right.. they don't care, but their mommies think you're cool)

strings Sunday, January 18, 2009
With the twins occupying a wee bit of lisa's time these days, I'm in now in charge of shuttling the older kids to music lessons, and doing daily practice with them... So I took the liberty of snapping a few candid (and not-so-candid) shots of them while practicing yesterday:

the making of a photo
So when you see a photo like this
or this,
or even one like this,
...things look pretty calm and under control. But don't be deceived -- I have some interesting video footage to convince you otherwise. John, Joelle & their 5 little ones were passing through Utah one night this week, so we thought we'd try and get a picture of the 5 baby boys born (all in 2008) while my parents are on their mission. So we gathered the 5 babies and 10 'older kids' (all under 12) in a hotel lobby for a 'quick' picture or two.
See for your self:
WARNING: May induce motion sickness
(Jamie should have stuck with a film major and maybe he'd have a steadier hand)

New Years Cookbook 2009 Friday, January 2, 2009
So this year we thought we'd try something different for our 3rd annual recipe compilation. Instead of cluttering your email inbox with a large pdf that you probably won't print (and will just struggle to find when looking for one of our mediocre recipes), we decided to put whole cookbook online:

- Search by keyword, ingredient
- Browse recipes by categories or by 'tag'
- Rate recipes, then see the highest rated ones
- Comment on recipes
- Print button at the bottom of each recipe for a printer-friendly format

New Years Eve Thursday, January 1, 2009
A lot can happen in one year. Last year at this time we didn't even know we would be having one baby, let alone 2! The kids all each grew about 3 inches (I checked this morning). One year ago Amanda wasn't reading chapter books and Dallin wouldn't read a book if it was more then 100 pages. One year ago we never played board games together as a family (now we love to play life, ticket to ride, and settlers of Zarahemla). A year ago we didn't have a playground or a yard. It will be an exciting year ahead. We will have 2 kids have their first birthday, Amanda will be baptized, Dallin will turn double digets, and Reid will be done with residency (kinda :)).
Enough of the sentimental stuff . . . last night to celebrate we let the kids stay up til midnight (Emily fell asleep on the couch). We did some kareoke, had french onion soup, shrimp, brownies, icecream, and 2 bottles of sparkling cidar in my new fancy glasses, and watched a couple movies.
Henry is the one in the pictures. He stayed up til midnight, while James slept right through it. Happy New Year!

cooper sledding
Jenny & the moyer clan came up today for a little new year's day sledding. I told cooper I'd put this online so he could watch it when he got home, because he loved sledding so much:
