Dallin picked out his outfit for the first day.

Dallin had his first day of school today. They had a school breakfast before school. Dallin was excited for school. His teacher got teacher of the year last year. I can see why too. She made each kid there own puzzle to put together before school that had a message from her on it saying how excited she was to have them in school.

Amanda's first day is in a week because they do kindergarden testing.
Emily thinks she is such a big girl. She can talk and tell you everything she wants. Unfortunatly we don't always give her what she wants (an old sippy cup of milk, 5 blankets and 2 teddys and to be carried with all 7 things. . . ).

Notice the shoes. She hates the sandles we have for her, but she loves her new pink tennies

Emily likes playing at the church daycare I work at. She gets to be with other 2 year olds. When I drop her off, she cries, but I get to check up on her a few times as my class walks by her room. She likes playing with all the different toys they have.

Bumpy ride Monday, August 21, 2006

The kids made a list of things to do before school starts. One of the things Dallin came up with was going on a hike.

So on Saturday night, we drove up Little Cottonwood Canyon and found a good spot.

The kids had fun, and Emily got a wild ride on the baby jogger.

slow motion 2 Friday, August 18, 2006

People in our ward think we've always got a new project going on at our house. I think it just looks that way because the projects we have going end up taking so long to finish. The original idea with our garage was to throw it all together in a few days so we wouldn't have to get a permit. Several weeks later our driveway still looks like a construction zone, and ... sure enough ... an inspector came knocking on our door today asking if we have a permit. oops. Meanwhile our basement is all drywalled but still not entirely sanded and painted. Our sprinkler system is 98% done so haven't done any sod in the backyard yet.

We've been in a redecorating mood lately and ended up selling our couches and our baby grand piano on craigslist. Luckily it only took us a couple weeks to decide on a new sofa, so now our living room isn't empty anymore. We looked locally but couldn't find the right style at the right price, so we ended up buying this black leather sectional on ebay.

We make popsicles out of our leftover frozen hot chocolate. The kids love it!

I soon realized that everybody at Amanda's Drama Camp was very friendly.

Day One: When I picked her up, there was a 12 year old Asian girl patting her head. Then one of the leaders said she could just take her and eat her up she was so cute.

Day Two: I soon found out that they had given Amanda, the youngest kids, a big part (20 lines), the 2 leaders laughed that they had given the youngest kids such a big part.

Day Three: The next day I dropped her off, a 7 year old boy quickly said "Amanda!" and came running to her. I thought he was going to hug her, but instead he said in her face "You're so cute!". When she came home that day, she had aquired 3 new friendship braclets.

Day Four: When I came to pick up Amanda, she couldn't find her script. Soon a ten year old girl chased her down saying, Chip, Chip, I found your script book.

Day Five:

Soon it was Friday and I had to go swimming with her in the afternoon because she was under 6 years. While I was waiting for the group to show up, I sat with another Mom who had a 5 year old boy and 7 year old girl in the camp. THe Mom asked what part my daughter had in the play. I told her she was "Chip" in the play. The next day she told me that when she rode home with her kids, her daughter said excited, "I finally met Chip today!" I put a life jacket on Amanda so she could go in the deep end. She didn't need the life jacket though. SHe had at least 2 kids by her side the whole time. They practically smoothered her! They would lift her over the rope, ask her what she wanted to do next and ask if she was having fun swimming. Everywhere she went kids would say "Hi Chip!".

Amanda's lead role Monday, August 7, 2006

Amanda started drama camp today. She will be in a 'Beauty and the Beast' play this weekend at raging waters. They cast her into the role of 'chip', the teapot's little kid. They went out on a limb giving this part to the youngest kid in the class because it has 19 lines to memorize, plus songs.

Emily fell asleep after having a morning snack.

Guyana People Sunday, August 6, 2006

The people are wonderful! We got to attend a baptism of 4 people while we were there.







We drove to church in Berbice across 2 rivers from Georgetown. We had to take a ferry across the second river - it took about 3 hours. We drove our car on the ferry and were packed so tight we couldn't open our doors to get out. Scary, eh? But the people at the branches we attended were wonderful. Here are the young women.

Dallin Turns 7 Thursday, August 3, 2006

Dallin had a birthday party on Tuesday to celebrate his 7th birthday. Him and 5 friends went to the bowling alley. We put the bumpers up on both lanes and the kids bowled surprisingly well. Dallin's friend Brinley topped the scores with a score of 121. Dallin loves to bowl, and the other kids did too. Dallin's friend Cole got so excited when he got a strike that everyone in the bowling alley was staring at him.

After 2 games of bowling, we headed back to the house for cake and presents.

On his real birthday the next day, Dallin enjoyed living it up with sausage and eggs for breakfast and Cafe Rio for dinner. Then we rented the Shaggy Dog and Spongebob. Dallin played x-box all day (he got a new sonic game) and watched the Shaggy Dog with Mom and Dad after his sisters were already in bed.

Finally at 11:20pm I told him that I had to go to bed so he did too. (He wanted to read his pokemon book until he fell asleep).

His personality traitsHe likes to do things the same way over and over. I have told him he doesn't need to go potty before we leave to go somewhere (Amanda Must!) but he still insists on it and he always washes his hands after. Because he is such an orderly guy, I put morning prays on his "morning chart". He now says his prays every morning!
