my turn to post.
We started out our day at breakfast. The surroundings were bright and open. We enjoyed much of the same food as our first breakfast. . . cheese, meat, yogurt, canned peaches and such. They had a hot chocolate mix that wasn't too bad. Much better than the ones in the US. My personal favorite was the yogurt. I don't know what is different, but European yogurt is so much better!
As we rode on the bus, to the water boat, the school age kids on the bus reminded us that it was a Saturday. They looked to be about 11 and they were happily texting on their i-phones, and listening on their i-pods. Have you ever seen 11 year olds with an i-phone? I think that most people with kids that live near Venice, live on the little island of Lido. We saw lots of families and parks with playgrounds.
Our first museum stop was at the modern museum. We were surprise to see the thinking man, but my research doesn't show that this is the original. Still fun to see.
For lunch we had fruit, veggies, and pastries of course! They had a chocolate pasty that was pretty good.
On our way into Venice, we stopped at the Rialto Market. It is like a farmers market, but with a huge fish section. They have been selling fish at this location for about 600 years. We picked up some fresh strawberries and cherry tomatoes for lunch.

One of the greatest places to see in Venice is St. Marco's Square. It is a huge open space with lots of pigeons and a big pretty church. After feeding the pigeons, we went inside the church. They had tiles not just the floors, but the ceilings too. It was beautiful. They used lots of gold one inch tiles.
After seeing a couple more museums of Venetian art, we headed back to Lido for dinner. The art was a lot of Mary and Baby Jesus. We had the best dinner of our vacation this night. We found a local Pub down the road from our hotel. Looking back, it was the most crowded restaurant we went to and had the best food. I ordered a zucchini pizza and Reid ordered a tuna salad. The crust on my pizza was golden brown, crunchy, and tasted amazing! The cheese and sauce were perfect. The zucchini was a little watery, but it is my fault for picking that out. Towards the end of eating the pizza, Reid and I started to just pick off the Zucchini. Even Reid's green salad with tuna on top was wonderful. It was a lot like a Nicoise salad. I must say that I loved every salad we ate in Italy. They use a lot of baby greens and of course vinaigrette. We had wished we could eat at that pub again. The table next door had ordered calazones the size of a football. The funniest part of the pub was the music videos they had playing on the flat screens. First it was Prince, then they must have popped in a DVD of every George Michael music video every played. I don't know why, but it made me think of my sister Candee.
